Ericsson has won a multi-country managed services contract from Smile Communications. This five-year agreement will be Ericsson’s first 4G/LTE managed services contract in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Ericsson will offer comprehensive services including performance optimization and network operations, to strengthen Smile Communications’ LTE networks in Uganda, Nigeria, Tanzania, and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Ericsson’s services will enable Smile Communications to focus on enhancing its customer experience.
With the growth of the smart phone market and increased usage of mobile broadband services across Africa, user demand for coverage speed and quality has increased across the continent. Consequently, there is the continuous need for network tuning and optimization in order to maintain superior performance as traffic increases.
