Pan-African broadband service provider Liquid Telecom eyes European IPO in 2016

Strive Masiyiwa, Founder & Chairman, Econet Wireless Group

Liquid Telecom, a broadband group controlled by African telecoms company Econet Wireless, is being lined up for a European flotation next year after approaches from potential buyers in recent months.

Strive Masiyiwa, Econet Group Founder, said he would look at a listing next year for Liquid Telecom after turning down “several multibillion dollar offers”, reports Daniel Thomas in London.

He added: “We have received several unsolicited offers for Liquid, but we want it to remain an independent access provider for internet in Africa. We are going to raise more capital in market and strengthen its market leadership in this vital space.”
