MTN Group has appointed Charles Molapisi as the CEO of MTN Zambia.
Top of the list of priorities for Molapisi is helping the company to list on the Lusaka Stock Exchange. MTN Zambia’s first attempt at listing failed amid controversy two months ago, mainly because of the company’s plan to use a special purpose vehicle (SPV) called Ikulileni. The SPV is run by directors who are also MTN employees.
Molapisi, who has served as Chief Information Officer of MTN Nigeria since 2012, takes over from Abdul Ismail, who led MTN Zambia from 2011 and has now retired.
