In addition to Essien, Hotels.ng’s investors include iROKOtv boss Jason Njoku, venture capital firm EchoVC Partners and investment firm, Omidyar Network. eBay Founder Pierre Omidyar founded the Omidyar Network in 2004.
Hotels.ng currently lists over 7,000 hotels from across Nigeria.
“We have sold millions of dollars of hotel rooms without any marketing, simply by leverage technology wisely. Anybody that has the knowledge, that has the expertise to use technology to drive customers can build up a large business in this day and age without needing to invest large amounts of capital,” says Mark Essien. “One of the key technology aspects that works well for that is social media. Social media is useful for both driving customers and for personal branding.”

“Social media, as a customer acquisition tool generates for us thousands of dollars in revenue, every single week,” Essien adds.
Essien says that he plans to build Hotels.ng into a pan-African brand, in every single country in Africa. He also states that he would like to do an IPO of Hotels.ng sometime in the future.
